The Hydraulic pump for the PS and Suspension has been overhauled and I can't buy "Nissan Active Suspension Fluid Type A" any where in Australia.

Does any one know of a substitute fluid that will be safe to use. Is the recommended fluid a mineral or synthetic and what is its viscosity? I feel sure that I will be able to find something in Australia, but if not I will have to import it from the US or Japan. Citroen use a product called "LHM" and RR use Dextron 2 or 3, at the moment I have a gut feeling that the LHM is the way to go, but if I'm wrong!!!!!

Any feed back/information at all will help me with my decision. Thanks in advance

Did you get the answer you needed regarding substitute suspension oils? Pentosin sells one, as does Mercedes. Failing that try and find a good brand antiwear hydraulic oil with rush and oxidation (R&O) protection. 5 centistokes (5cs) should work OK. It's got to be antiwear and R&O. Viscosity Index higher than 150 is desirable.

LHM fluid is on the light (too thin) side, but OK otherwise. I had a Citroen SM for 24 years and know the stuff well.

Good going, but I have no idea about the significance of colors.

Email Keith as he is a gentleman and very knowledgeable about lubricants and oils.

If you want the proper fluid, Joe can send it to you I think.
