G'DayHave spent a while searching and can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for.1990 JDM Q45A 100K K'sProblem: Active Suspension warning light on instrument cluster comes on 16 seconds after starting engine.Things I've tried so far.Removed hydraulic oil reservior and checked oil level and temp sender units, both working OK.Manual flush and bleed system with new oil, TWICE.Tried self-diagnosis as per FA-65, however,I don't get any codes i.e.light just stays on.

The A hops a bit until it warms up but then settles down and drives fantasticly, especialy 'round corners. Everything seems to work OK, just the dash warning light stays on!!!!!Any Ideas?

Swap in your spare active ecu/comptuer module or use Consult I/II/III with the active plug in card for system diagnosis.

I know AU may not have this test equipment especially the active data card but that was the way it was designed to be troubleshooted.

Thanks Q45techI should have asked President Bush to bring a spare ECU and Consult with him on his visit. Looks like I might have to just go through the Malfunction code Descriptions as per FA-66 one by one.........there's only about 30 of them Hopefully someone will come up with another solution for me.CheersPS. Big Thanks to "Ossie" for his input via emails.

might contact 'Goody' as he just parted out a 91 USDM active. prolly has an active ECU that is compatible with your 1989.

might be obvious, but you have to rock the n-h switch more than 10 times to get the codes to read. then you wait a few seconds (maybe up to 10) before the steady light starts blinking the code. it took me several tries to get the hang of it.

Finally got Code 41....."Pump or pressure switch faulty". As I have had the Pump O/hauled, I assume the "pressure switch system" must be the problem. Any ideas on where the switch is and how I might begin to repair it? Cheers

active pressure switch is located on the pump output accumulator (front center above the pipe rack

My point was when you import any unique specality car to a non sold country you bring in 2 wrecked ones front clips as spare parts...............and persuade others to do the same.

Just flying to Japan or asking a US friend to ship everytime you need something would drive me crazy.

Your right Denis, but chasing parts 'round the world is part of the challenge when you live down here and restore old cars. I'm thinking very seriously about buying a wrecking yard!

Aussie,You may have got air trapped between the fluid reservoir and/or the pump and the pump is not able to pressurize the system correctly - the error code maybe simply telling you that there's not enough pressure.

You need to follow the procedure to remove as much air of the system as possible using a Vacuum Pump - the type used when working with the Air Conditioning system. The FSM explains how to do it - you basically have to remove the cap for the reservoir (where the Active fluid goes), remove the strainer and then figure out a way of connecting the suction hose from the vacuum pump to the tank. I used a PVC plug big enough to fit on the neck of the tank (I added some tape around it to get a good seal), added a hole on the plug and a brass fitting to connect the hose from the pump. Some people have simply used duct tape to hold the hose - but you need to make sure there's no air leaking in, otherwise you don't get the necessary vacuum.

Thanks Mint, I don't have ready access to a vacuum pump, however I have blead the entire system and believe that I have all the air out as there are no air bubbles in the bleeder line. I also know that there is plenty of pressure in the system as the bleeder tube came off and sprayed oil all over me. If necessary I could put a pressure gauge in where the sensor goes to test the pressure. Guess it should be about 1200psi??

As luck has it my local wrecking yard has just bought in TWO front cuts AND they are both "ACTIVE". I'm beginning to think maybe I have the wrong oil in the system. Would you have any idea on the specs of the recommended oil. The oil I'm using is the stuff MB use in their (active) system.
