I was considering a project that involves using the active cooler and the active fan.

The project would use a thermo valve to open the trans fluid valve at 170 degrees and activate the fan to quickly cool the fluid.

the active cooler sits down in the wheel well and thus does not dump any heat into the cooling system.

looking for ideas and part links to build this system. I would even consider making kits for others if interested

Sounds like a good idea to me, I wanted to do something around that area but no finds.

For the parts its $218 plus shipping.

Then you would have to figure out a way to wire it all together.

Look in Summitt racing/ Jegs catalogs, there are plenty of aftermarket coolers/heat exchangers that have electric fans attached to them that would work well in that location of the Q.

I locate my passive B&M coolers there. Fan would only help at idle.

I already picked up an Active Fluid cooler which came standard on the the Q45a to cool the hydrolic fluid

It actually already comes with a fan. it also comes with duct that pulls cool air next to the fog light and vents it into the driver side wheel well.

There are a few actives in the local Pick and Pull (sorry rear bars are gone)

Duct you say? I might be interested in that. Wonder if it can be mounted upside down on the other side also?

1990-1993 Q45A had no fan just a duct where it led to the bumper (Where the gills are)

1994-1996 Q45A had a fan I believe.

But are all Q45's wired up for the fan and sensor of the 1994+?

How hard would it be to wire up a fan from the active system to a 1900-1993 Q45?

Is it worth having a fan if only needed at Idle?

wouldn't putting the transmission in neutral when at a red light waiting at idle to prevent from over heat?
