Hey,

After reading this article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22360355/page/2/) on the dangers of toxins inside our cars' cabins and finding out that the Nissan Versa is one of the worst offenders, I've been trying to find an activated charcoal (or similar) cabin air filter replacement for my 07 Versa Hatchback SL.

I've searched all over the place and haven't had any luck. Does anybody have any suggestions? I've also tried calling the local Nissan dealer to no avail.

Thanks for your help!Nathan

The real question is whether consumers will demand more of a "Green" built vehicle.. and by looking at the current direction of cars we have come along way.. From back in the old days when cars contained lead in the paint and many other more toxic materials then today's cars.

Best advice to you bro.. is to simply not use the recirculating feature for your inside cabin air and keep your windows partially open to take in fresh outside air.

No sense in wasting your time on trying to find a carbon filter..

The way the Versa cabin filter is designed, with one side open so that it "fans out", I doubt that a charcoal filter was possible to incorporate.

Here's a great place to buy cabin filters though. Just like OEM at a fraction of the dealer price, with fast shipping. I bought three different ones for our cars for less than $30 delivered!

Why did the article just gloss over this (from the first page):

"Once the test conditions were set, Buters exposed samples of lung cells and skin tissue to air extracted from inside the enclosed cabins. Two days later, he assessed the impact. "From what we could see and test, there was nothing but a slight aggravation of allergies, and we did the worst-case scenario," Buters says."

Not the best experiment but apparntley the only one done with human cells. I dont see why MSNBC likes to make such a big deal.

Sensationalism attracts and retains viewers, allowing higher advertising revenues. Even if something is totally fabricated it works that way. Why do you think FoxNews has survived this long?
