i have a 1995 240sx and will be needing a new clutch soon...i was looking in to a ACT NX4-HDR4....

HD - ACT Heavy Duty Pressure Plate R4 - ACT 4-Pad Race Disc

on the ACT site it says: Note: Not recommended for street use due to harsh engagement

Does anyone know how "harsh" the engagement is??? my car will hit the track but is mainly for everyday use...if it's really harsh i think i'll go with the

NX4-HDSS SS - ACT Performance Organic Street Disc

thanks

Race disk kicks your ***.

I hear it's pretty bad, when they say not recommended for street use, they understand we're looking for performance, but even this is too serious for the street. They know soccer moms aren't the ones looking at this and they wouldn't like the hard engagment.

These things engage right away, no slip for you boi!

It'll be jerky as hell, but then again, ask somebody that has the setup, I'm going by what I hear.

Race clutches really aren't cool for the street.

thanks for the info Bob...my bro told me the same thing...but i thought maybe it wouldn't be that bad..but if the manufacture doesn't recommend street use then maybe i'll go with the SS model...

**Anyone out there that has the kit???...can you please comment??...thanks**

I have that setup in my 98. It is harsh but mine is a daily driver. If you are gonna do big upgrades i would recomend purchasing it.

I had the similiar set up for my old civic, and I tell ya, you wouldn't want to drive with a hard clutch everyday. It's SUPER for racing, but even the clutch out for daily driving has been a pain in my ars.

I have the four puck. Yes the six puck is a lil smoother than the four. I would get the six but when i ordered mine, the six puck disc was on 6 month back order, but maybe you will have better luck.

I have a 6 puck and its just not cool for daily driving : P. I have to give a lot of gas just to make it smooth- for times when i have to drive my mom somewhere, or a girl. Girls dont like the shaking-unless they're freaky like that.

i think i have a broken motor mount- maybe that might contribute to the shaking?

i2ice4m3....................what if you just releash the clutch normally????like you had the stock clutch..will it stall???i'm just really curious about how jumpy the car will be...i don't want to get something i'm going to get mad at after a week...but if it's not that bad i'll get it ... i drive pretty aggressive on the streets anyways...

Ok i am not sayin that it is the smoothest clutch, i am sayin that it is fine for street use, i really don't have that much shaking or jerking while driving. I know many ppl who use this clutch setup and feel the same.

I know that this is old, but I'm in the same predicament. I just stuck a new clutch in my car, but now I need another one cause my axle broke off and I'm hoping that the LSD didnt give out. Somehow in the process, the clutch gave up. I've got 2 240s, one has a SPEC 2, which I'm really happy with. Does anyone know how the ACT 4 or 6 puck compare to the SPEC stage 2 in "harshness"?

I have the 4 puck in mine its harsh but its my daily driver so I just put up with it, kinda chatters a lil if you try to slip it and it makes a squeeling noise when you're engaging in reverse sometimes because it has so much pressure, thats what they tell me anyway.

Not to jack your thread but I was curious about clutches too. The 240sx.org FAQ says a "240zx" clutch will work in the 240sx and has better grab. Is this accurate? Tek.

my brother runs the heavy duty kit and drives it fine. my suggestion, get the hd kit and learn to handle the clutch. personally, i love the stiffness and overall feel. plus its fun to watch other people try to drive it and stall.

I agree I dont mind the extra pressure, but dont get a 4 puck unless your only going to race, its not very streetable, I regret getting the puck disc myself but I might as well burn it up before changing it
