4 puck will be stickier and will engage more quickly... 4 puck will be harder to drive but will hold more power... 6 puck will last longer... I believe the 6 puck is way too heavy of a disk and causes shifting issues... On the twins car it would lock out the next gear at above 6500 rpms...

the thread im refering to was made by chezedik. its on this page with 15 replies or so. anyways, ill be making the same power/torque numbers you are and i went with the spec 6 puck. i picked it up from enjuku for their sale price ($309) out the door. im hoping to have everything running this weekend. used all the parts from the ams build kit today. first time motor build for me, so it was quite fun. the clevites all checked out too. good shlt ivan.

Anyways, when we did the motor rebuild, my buddy that was helping me noticed that the inserts on this fidanza were kinda worn out and the bolts were nearly comming thu but the inserts still had some life to them so we left it alone. But what we both failed to realize was that we rebuilt the motor with the sole intention of more boost and more whp. I went from ~270 whp b4 the build to 314 whp and then to 414 whp after the build. It may be the flywheel inserts that are gone or it could be the clutch or both.. Ive been too lazy to drop this transmission to find out..

Which clutch would last longer?4 puck, 6 puck or street? And how do you "step" a flywheel?Let us know what that term is.And would someone help with the clutch choice, I'm in need of a new clutch. Thanks!

stepping is usually done buy the machine shop that surfaces your fly wheel. What it is a 2 stage surfacing processing that puts a small step into the surfaced portion of the fly wheel. It is suppose to be done that way on all ka fly wheels.

That could certainly be an issue...

There are two factory flywheels... One is completely flat and the other is stepped... The stepped flywheel has the area where the clutch disk rides stepped up from the area where the pressure plate mounts... This effectively puts more pressure on the disk and keeps it from slipping... I dont know which years have the stepped or flat flywheel... I believe the SOHC and the 95 up all have the same clutch / flywheel and the 91-94s have the other...

yeah my stock flywheel is def not stepped its completely flat. but thats cool that i learned something new. so you can take a flat flywheel and machine it stepped to where the pressure plate mounts it lower than the contact surface. and damn run something like a street disc and have it grab like a puck disc. if my 6 puck ever starts to slip (doubt it will) i can always take the flywheel to have it stepped.

I used the ACT and 6 puck before but I didn´t like it. Bad crappy feeling in the pressure plate and very weak, only 400 Nm before if went up in smoke... I didn´t step the flywheel but this was a SR20 car and ACT never said a word about stepping.Tested Spec after this and the same problems, both probably use a painted stock plate...

After this I started using Sachs instead and now I don´t need sinter, their pressure plates are really strong, 600 Nm with OEM disc. As a bonus you get a huge left leg, hard to press...
