Anyone who puts paint thinner in their tanks is asking for some serious problems. Not only is it HIGHLY flammable AND toxic, it can clog up your injectors.

Would be awfully amusing to get that complaint in the service department "What do you mean my fuel pump, fuel rail, fuel injectors, and pressure regulator need to be replaced?? 'so and so' didn't have a problem with acetone in their tank, i saw it on the internet!"

Acetone? Hmm...that's a first for me. I guess it's kind of like adding naphthalene, better known as OLD FASHION MOTH BALLS to your gas tank. It has to be the blue box "Old Fashion Moth Ball" brand which is supposed to increase gas mileage. Can anyone say BS?!!

Or could have gotten the 2.5S... I got around 30 MPG on highway. Haven't used an entire tank on a 100% highway trip... but I think I can get around 600 miles on a tank of gas. I'm currently getting around 350-400 miles with mixed highway/city driving. (lots of stop and go traffic lately).

idk whats wrong with my ride... 23mpg with the stock.. and it hasnt changed with the rims... maybe bc the size offset is offsetting the mileage loss?

Anytime you go with different wheels than factory, you have changes. Yes, the wheels MIGHT not change it, but the fact that the wheels are A. wider and B. larger will eventually cause your mileage to drop, if only 1 or 2mpg. It also depends on what type of gas you use. If you use Shell or another major brand-name, you should get somewhat close to the EPA estimate (keep in mind it is JUST an estimate). But, if you use Wal-Mart or some local Schmoe gas station, the octanes are usually 2 points lower than advertised. It's a long story, but cheaper places have cheaper prices because they buy the leftover gas cheap.

About Acetone in Mythbusters from Wikipedia:"Debates on this subject and claims of Big Oil cover-up intensified when the practice was addressed on the popular American TV show MythBusters in 2006, and shown to have negative effect in the televised fuel economy test (Season 3, Episode 53)."

:p
