the exhaust is fine. the other car's bumper went just above the exhaust so it's all good.

you need to get the other person's information first and the person who scratched your car has to file a claim through their insurance. but i'm going to settle this in cash so i got estimates and she's going to pay me in cash for what the estimate amounts to. then... the ED bumper gets painted and goes on =]

with an accident with low severity as this (in that only some scratches came out of it), going through insurance is a last resort. Honestly, they probably wouldnt even bother approving the claim. i believe damage of $500-$600 or more is the minimum for them even considering the claim.

Not always.
I caught a door in a wind storm and got a small dent(only a little paint taken off but a lot of scratches on the clear coat) but not bad at all the estimate is $355. The guy called Allstate and filed a claim. When I was on the phone with the lady from Allstate giving her info she said that they most likely wont do an inspection because most cases under $1,000 get instant approval with a quote from a "registered" repair shop. I'm getting it fixed and 3 days rental out of it and its not even going to be $450 with the rental...

Yeah, you probably had a little bit more damage then me haha. Here is a pic of my dent. They can pop it out for $100 but the paint got scratched so thats a nice chunk of change there.
What made it worse was a couple days later I was visiting my cousin at college and I took a pebble to my windshield on I65 and it split so my car had a noticeable dent and a split windshield and thats all I could think about when I was driving lol.

damn dude, i have a dent too, along with some scratches. funny story actually, my car was super dirty, so you could tell everywhere it was touched. anyways, i came outside after work and there was a big dent in my driver fender, two hand prints and two foot prints, on the hood. what was worse, whoever stepped on it had rocks in their shoes and scrached the holy crap out of everywhere they stepped.

a week after the accident repair and paint was done to the front end
