Ok well my alternator belt has been squealing alot latley...and yesterday i heard a noise coming from that area...soo i looked at it...and saw that it was flush with the alternator pully...i thought it would be fine for right now i dont drive much because of other problems with my rb20...so after work tonight i look at it to see if its slipping off anymore...and its about 1/4 or so past the pully...i was wondering what i should do... do i just need to replace the belt or the pully or should i just slip it back on...my other problem is im not sure how to loosen the belt up(newb) ...if someone can point me in the direction of where i can find out step by step removal and replacement or just give me a detailed explanation of how to do it i would be grateful ....i need hellppp lol....and if it doesnt make sence to you then just tell me and ill try and explain it as best as possible thanks...

Do you mean to say that your alternator belt is coming off? If so, it obviously needs to be replaced and/or retightened. There are two bolts to adjust the tension, one loosens to allow the adjustment bolt to move, then tighten it down once the belt is to the desired tension. One bolt is on the top of the alternator, but faces towards you so all you see is the little threaded end poking out at you. You need to stick a wrench in behind that to loosen it.

It's hard to describe, but get in there and look at it because it should be blindingly obvious how it adjusts. If not, there are FSM's around that can guide you through it better.

It's on the side of the alternator towards the passenger wheel well on the bracket above the alternator. Kind of behind it too. It's a really long threaded bolt.

I had a custom one fabbed up from my 240SX differential yolk and a Z32 yolk that I bought from someone on NICO for $35. Then I took it to Arnold Motor Supply (has a machine shop) and they charged me $235 to make a one piece out of the two pieces. I installed the Z32 yolk into the transmission until it bottomed out against the oil seal. Then measured from the knuckle to the differential flange and subtracted 1/2". Mine ended up needing to be 43" from flange to Z32 knuckle, but I messed up my first measurement as the yolk wasn't completely on. Damn that pissed me off! Kind of rambled on about this but figured I'd be thorough.
