Has anyone had thi sproblem? i'm pretty sure its a ground problem. I figured out that all 4 injectors weren't firing because of grounding issues. I found a loose black wire coming from the engine bay so i spliced it with something. It didnt work the first time then i guess I made the mistake of grounding it to another set of black wires. I looked in the fsm to make sure what i'm grounding it to was to the ground that connects to the coilpacks. But now my interior, signals, lights, EMERGENCY LIGHTS, everything inside wont turn on until i rev the car to 2.5k. After i rev to 2.5k the tach would work and the wipers would wipe once.

if it works when you rev maybe it's your alternator

so yesterday i tired driving the car. After 5 minutes i would try to gas the car, then it would start to stutter and feel like nothing is happening. So i decided to turn the car off. After that, i couldnt turn the car on again. So teh battery was dead. After a jump from my friend's car, i was able to drive it again back home.

So could the alternator cause it? I thought the car wouldnt even run if the alternator was messed up? Or maybe the alternator wasnt charging in low rpms(something i think i read about)?

Have you found out what was making that ticking sound that you mentioned your engine was making? Or is it still making that noise.

why dont you check if it's the alternator...there's a simple test just by turning on your car and removing the ground for the battery..if the cars still alive alternator:good if it dies alternator:sucks

ok i tested the alternator, and it died instantly. But would that cause my problem? nothing turned on when i put in the fresh new battery before starting the car and doing the test?

when i first installed my engine i grounded everything with a fish eye connector on the end, included the alternator car did the same thing, felt real weak then died, wouldnt start again. towed home, removed alternator and got tested by a shop for free, tested positive. installed it and still same thing. spent 200 to get rebuilt, installed it, same thing. took 5 minutes to look at wiring and diagrams and moved the alternator connector from body ground to fuse link box. worked! if alternator is dead or mis wired both your battery and brake lights on dash cluster should illuminate. easiest alternator test is using voltmeter connected to battery check for ~12.6 with car off, ~13.xx @ idle and ~14.xx while revving.

Hmm. While we're on the subject (sry for the slight thread jack), what's the simplest way to hook up the CA's alternator? I'm in the middle of rewiring the car ('77 MGB) and need to get the alternator wired in. I know there are 4 wires on it, can anyone tell me the correct destination for them? I don't have anything like a "fuse link box", so what's the alternative? Thanks guys!

Back on topic, I'm thinking it's either a bad alternator (most likely) or improper ground.

Check the main alternator fuse. 75amp fuse or something like that. It's in the fuse box along with the fuel pump ect. When it blows the alt stops charging.

yeah i got the alternator rebuilt and i found out the fuse was blown. I got a new one from nissan (20 bucks!) now it runs. My boost gauge sucks, i think it leaks cause i feel air, i only get 12 for vaccum on my boostgauge. But whatever now my car runs. Even though i can hear the turbo starting to spool at 2.3k =[
