Accessing Nav system while in motion

Hey all...I'm new to forum. A question: Is there a way that the full Navigation features can be accessed while the vehicle is in motion. From what I can see, a number of feature (particularly access to POIs) are disabled when vehicle is in motion. I understand this from a safety aspect but even passengers can't get the full Nav system once the vehicle is moving. Thoughts??

This is normal for factory installed nav systems. Toyota, Honda, GM and others all do the same:

You cannot program a destination while you are driving.
