Those of you who own 97 and up Q45 should check your cars throttle because i was involved in an accident where the car just accelerated while going into a driveway and it revved up so hight that i picked up speed in seconds so fast that it got totalled. AAA has yet told me if they found out what the problem was but, i would check your cars out. just a heads up. definitely i would never buy this type of car ever!

PS: brake pedal would not work it was stuck and e brake was stuck as well.

I would suggest you study automotive engineering, as "got stuck" is not an educated response.

Failure to clean TB periodically is an owner caused problem.

Anyway almost every modern [2000+] car now has electronic controlled TB to integrate and simplify traction control and cruise.

Obvioulsy human ability to think under stress and switch to neutral varies, but DARWIN proved the fittest survive while the incompetent die.

Listen, im only explaining what happened, how, and were. When the brake pedal does not work, not putting it in park or N what else are you gonna do?

I dont wish my experience to happen to anyone, even for those who are geniuses that have street smarts.

It is a deer in headlight type problem. Why do people FREEZE [mentally] and keep pushing brake when the SIMPLE ACT of throwing shifter into neutral stops the acceleration then the brakes will work.

Accidents and deaths just prove the driver was not competent in the first place to be driving.Building cars to protect against driver incompetence has doubled their price.

Now Toyota is being forced to redesign so that a simultaneous brake and accelarator action will turn the engine off. No more powerbraking or 2 feet driving [left foot braking].People will sue because the engine shuts off now...............you can only do so much to protect incompetents.

Yeah, even the cop in the ES350 and the throttle jammed by the floormat couldn't figure to shift out of drive or even turn off th ignition.

Unintended acceleration from the Audi on has always been operator error.

He had a car with a CVT and its a little harder to put it in neutral.

And to the original poster: There have been only two cases on NICO that I have seen so this can't be an error on Infiniti's part, So no need to make them look bad.

Who did? All cars mentioned in this thread have automatics.

There was one other Y33 with this issue that I can recall. Owner found that a squirrel had built a nest under the hood in the accelerator cable area. Debris got wedged in the linkage... Luckily he was in an area with ample room to put the car in neutral and get it stopped without incident.

As in most cases, people tend to blame others instead of looking from within. The original poster should have waited for the completion of the AAA investigation before making a statement blaming the car/Infiniti.

The ES350 is not available with a CVT. It can only be had with a 6 speed automatic with a gated shifter.

Wow then clearly I or the news article in the General section got it wrong then. Because I heard that the cop despite his many years of service could'nt figure how to put the car in neatral and stop the car.

I'm sure the news article was wrong. News media is always screwing up automotive details.

It was the only ES350 produced that did, if true.
