Hi all,

I was wondering if it is normal to have a slight vibration, very light though when accelerating? As soon as I am at the cruzing speed it goes away. It happens every time I accelerate (on cold or hot engine). The car is an 2003 M45 with 100,000 km.

No, could be warped rotors or bad tire or worn tires or unbalance tires.

Well if it's only while you're accelerating, i dont think it's the tires or the rotors because you're not braking while you're accelerating. The rpm's are up though. It could be a broken engine mount.

It wasnt posted ONLY on accel but yeah, it could also be an unbalanced driveshaft or it could even be misfiring on one cylinder. I think we may need more info on this one.

By 60,000 miles every piece of rubber isolation and bushings have changed for the worse.

If you want like new performance you must replace everything rubber.

I would think shocks have deteriorated by now.

Why the 5 year old car has depreciated to less than a third of new MSRP.

The small vibration happens only on accelerating. I am thinking maybe some backpresure on the mufler when the secondary oppening happens when pressing the gas.

It is nothing related to Drivetrain /rotors/pads as if i am crusing it does not vibrate.

I am in a Consumpton test at the dealer and I will ask themn about this too.

Is this vibration present when accelerating from stop or very low speed? I had this problem, Infiniti gave me a new driveshaft and flushed the transmission. It got somewhat better, but still is there.I saw posts about overfilled oil sumps causing this, and was skeptical, but noticed it got worse just after having my oil changed. So there may be something to that..

That is exactly it. Is you problem solved? Can you more precised on what they did or said about it?

I found a TSB on the FX45 describing this problem, probably applies to the M as well.. http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ow...0.htm

(This from a thread at another forum)

Makes me wonder why the dealer went to the trouble to replace the driveshaft.. I asked the svc mgr about the oil level issue and he looked at me like I was nuts.

I am also having the same issue now and i am also doing an oil consumption test. Could the dealer be over filling th oil so it doesnt look like it is consuming alot of oil when i take it back at the 1000 mile intervals.

Has this problem been fixed for anyone?

You have to remember that the tech is the one that does this and with the lack of work that a lot of dealerships are getting lately, one must think that the tech would WANT to do the job and not push you away...I know if it was me and your case was a borderline one, I might fidge a little bit on my report, thats just me.

I just quit my oil consumption test as I noticed there is not much lost every 1000 km (around 0.1 l) which should be normal for a V8).

To answer your question, I can tell you that my brother works for Nissan and he told me the dealersip does not really want to chage an engine as it is alot of work and not much is payed by Infiniti.

As about the dealership overfilling to fool you that the engine is not eating oil, I can guarantee this, as it has happend to me the first two times I went for the oil consumption test and after they changed my oil, the level as way after the MAX line.

I stopped the test as I could see they were not willing whatsoever to change anything, plus that my car does not consume that much.

Then I would say contact Infiniti/Nissan and tell them that you truely believe that they are mis-marking the dipstick and just trying to push you away.
