Acceleration Shudder

I recently bought a 2014 Versa Note with the Automatic CVT transmission. Everything is smooth except for when I do a rolling stop. If I decelerate quickly at a stoplight or a stop sign and then hit the gas again before I have come to a complete stop I get a shudder. If I do completely stop, the car will accelerate fine without a shudder. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this and if it is fixable. It is on my list to flush the transmission fluid once we get through the holidays.

That could be a slipping CVT belt, but it sounds more like the planetary clutch isn't dropping cleanly into "low" when you decelerate. To see which, try dropping the shifter to L just as you reach a few miles an hour, then back to D. If you get a clunk on the downshift and it accelerates normally after that, then the problem is most likely the planetary. If it doesn't change anything then it's most likely the belt. Either way, some fresh fluid may help it out.

There doesn't seem to be any thump when I drop it into L.
Dropping it into L and then right back into D before I accelerate does seem to eliminate the shudder though.

That sounds like the belt then, but with no clunk you can't be certain. However, like I said earlier, chances are a fluid change will improve matters. If it's never had any service, do two spill-and-fills with 1K miles or so in between. That will give the detergents in the first change a chance to scrub out the varnish.
