Went back in to plenum and found one of the new knock sensors was defective.Just replaced one KS and the Q runs great. Also had all the hoses from the 'ultimate hose kit from Joe' replaced, so should have a good running engine for awhile.

Congratulations, how much money have you spent in total trying to remedy this problem?

Wait! Which idiot didn't test it before installation? He pays!

Was it an OEM sensor? If so, I don't blame you for not testing it... I didn't test mine...

You never cease to amaze me Manic. My mom used to say that if you don't have anything nice to say then just keep your pie hole shut....ever consider that?

Jeez.....as if the dude wasn't already bummed enough. Go ahead, pile it on your excellency.

Hey, they are professionals. Takes < 1 second to test with DVM. Takes hours (for me) to get back under there.

Very simple decision, for me.

All shops cover labor on defective parts they supply and install.

Is no one held accountable anymore?

max,I have to agree with you that someone should be accountable.

I too didn't measure resistance when I replaced KS on my car. Didn't know you can do that.

Didn't say I paid extra to have them go back in.By the way, the old KS's were cracked on inspecting them but, also before they pulled them out, weeks ago, the OHM tests for the KS were within the range they were supposed to be. That's why they weren't sure that was the problem in the first place.

Much as I hate to say it, I am not convinced the knock sensors are/were the cause of your initial problem- when mine were bad{and throwing a code} I had them replaced and the ONLY difference I could feel was slightly better "tip in " acceleration and engine response{ light throttle acceleration when exiting corners, etc} No, as in none, difference in measured MPG or idle quality or full throttle or 1/2 throttle power or smoothness.

If the knock sensors were not the cause then maybe the harness. But the problem is completely gone.Hope this gives a breather to the checkbook though and sure hope no one hits this car since AAA will only give up maybe 2 grand for it. Of course being a California resident, the lawyers will go after their house and kids too.

Cracked sensors will fail soon. You did it right.

what was the issue exactly here...i am having some kinda bizzare seemingly random acceleration problems with my vh right now and it too is throwing the knock sensor code.when you cruise for a bit it will run fine but when you try to accelerate it hesitates and kinda does a rolling missfire then clears up and takes off.a wot pull will also clear the problem but it comes back.
