Acceleration & Compass Gauge WON'T WORK

I have an 84 z31 Turbo. I just bought it & when it started up, both those gauges worked fine. After installing a new starter & swapping the battery, there were arrows on the gauges pointing all sorts of different directions. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thank you.

Thank you. & I think my problem was that I jump started the car wrong & my digital dash is all messed up. Any idea how I can undo all those mess-ups?

"jump started the car wrong" meaning you hooked up the battery backwards? This typically fries the computer among the blown fuses and whatnot, being a digital car the power supply might have taken a hit as well.
