Well! I had my Versa for about 3 years, bought it brand new from a Nissan dealership. It's been running great, I have to tell ya. Upon the last month, it started having problems with the acceleration. Either on a hill or a straight away, it'd get no pick up at all, and I understand that it's not a very powerful car, I've no mods on it whatsoever, yet. It's all stock. I don't want to take it to the dealership just yet until I find out myself what the problem is, and see if it is covered under the warranty.

It's odd though every once in a while, it'll pick up like it used to, and sometimes, I'll have the pedal to the floor and it will not accelerate like it used to, it crawls basically. I wonder if this is an engine or transmission problem?

Sounds like possibly a clogged fuel filter. It may be time to replace it. The gunk in it may slosh around a little and then you feel the power back.

Hopefully its something simple like Promise land said, the first thing that came to my mind was the sensor on the pedal or the electronic throttle.

Old worn spark plugs can cause that. But these plugs are supposed to last about 100,000 miles. You aren't up around 100,00 miles, are you? Also, the fuel filter is stuck away inside the fuel pump, at least it is on my 09 Versa. Not sure if you can replace the filter without replacing the whole pump.

Well my dealership apparently said that they had cleaned my fuel injector and flushed my fuel lines back in August of 09. But it could be the fuel filter XD And, no I haven't reached 100,000 miles. I'm about 57,000 though lol. I'll take it in to get it looked at! Thanks for the helpful suggestions!

this could also be the car going into fail safe mode (CVT or AT) if it is a manual might be your clutch. Stop drage racing in the V

It can't be this because it locks it into gear when it goes into failsafe. You have to use the shift lock on the base of the AT stick to reset it. The only way you are really going to see it go into fail safe mode is if you try to start off in first spinning the tires and shift to second then drive etc.

I honestly think what you are seeing is just the finicky nature of the CVT. I have a CVT and I can't really ever predict what it is going to do.
