I'd been suffering in the heat since last summer when my AC quit. I finally overcame the fear of a big bill and took it in for diagnosis. The system was simply vacuumed and refilled with 4 cans of "freeze out" as they called the freon. The tech said the system was full of moisture and he had feared that it would have damaged the evaperator, however, it seems to be fine now. It passed their overnight leak test and is cooling fine.

YES!!!

BTW, just hit 190K on the Q. (1990)

Jesda,

The stuff is actually Freeze 12... the Tech says it retails for about $18 a can. I'm sure it can be had for cheaper, especially on the web, but for $140 to have my AC working again, who's complaining?

If the car is moving, yes, I have turn it down. If just sitting at idle, then it's quite comfortable on full blast.

What kind of oil did you use with Freeze12?

I used Freeze12 but forgot to oil the system. *oops* My cost was $10.95 a can at a local store.
