ac system removal

what upi was wonderion how much work itll be completly removing my ac system?would i still have to leave the ac pump or just get a shorter belt?is it really worth it? (my ac dont work and i dont plan on fixing it)i atleast want to take the lines out ..especially the discharge line!! its always in the way when working on the exhaust side!!
