The ac stopped working while I was driving so when I got home I popped the hood and saw that the power plug to the ac compressor was disconnected so I plugged it back In and nothing...the ac blows but not cold since there is no power getting to the compressor. I connected a direct line from the battery positive to the compressor, it turns on and blows cold. I checked the plug with a light tester and there's no power. All the fusses are fine, the relays too since I swapped it with the fog lights relay and the fog lights turned on with no problem.

Has anybody had this happend ? Please help me it is really hot in south Florida right now!!!!

PS: I have a 91 NA

I know it sounds dumb but have you checked the little 10A fuse in the large fuse box at the front of the car? and checked all your fuses for that matter, by the sounds of it if you can direct wire it to the battery you have a short somewhere, just need to start tracing wires and see if any are shorted out

Yes I checked all the fuses both, inside the car and the hood. They all are ok. Also checked the relay and it's also ok. Tried tracing the wire and I believe it goes back to a rely in the fuse box under the hood and it looks fine. Don't know what else to do.

Have you checked the connector (on the harness, not on the compressor) with a multimeter? Turn the AC on and check to see if there is voltage. If not, then it's either bad wiring or fuses (which you checked) or relay (which you checked), or the switch inside the car is bad.

It might be a short in the compressor clutch. This happened to me and I replaced the entire compressor unit.

I need to know where is the ac computer unit/module in the 300zx. Somebody told me it was under the dash and there was no need to remove the dash since I could reach it by removing the panels on the driver side. Is this true? has anybody here ever removed this ac computer module? thanks
