AC noise

I can clearly hear how AC compressor kicks-in and this is accompanied by a low-frequency noise (like a little diesel engine starts). On a hot day it gets worse, the AC compressor goes on and off every 10 seconds, with this annoing noise. Am I the only one who has this? Has anybody else noticed this AC noise? I talked to Nissan mechanics and they said it's normal - a little loud for me though, if it's really normal. However, I suspect something is off.

I picked up my Rogue in June and haven't noticed this at all. I would go to another dealer for an opinion.

Yes, the A/C noise you mention is really only noticeable at idle. It shows up as some increased vibration through the steering wheel and an audible change in engine noise. As I recall, it's a bit more intrusive than the A/C on my Altima but I don't think it's totally annoying. I can see how some people might be more sensitive to this.

The A/C is cycling frequently because there is little load on it. Try turning up the fan speed a bit to see if it helps.

The AC noise in my Rogue is very acceptable, very similar to the sound I've heard in every other vehicle I've ever driven or rode in. All AC compressors make some noise, especially noticeable at idle. I would say the Rogue is well within an acceptable range of noise and it definately is not excessive.

Thank you for your posts. It turned out that my A/C was broken (compressor). Now the sound is quite different (almost none). Many thanks to Nissan Canada - they expedited the delivery of parts and handled the matter very professionally - exceeded all my expectations! Happy driving Nissan owners!
