AC issue 2003 Murano

2003 Murano SL, 43000 mi, CA to Las Vegas

During a 4 hr drive cool air from AC continued to decrease until almost no cool air was coming out of vents (outside temp was about 100). Fan was making its normal noise but very little air coming from vents.

Next day AC seemed to work OK.

Any advice?

could be the ambient temperature plus the unerhood temperature was too much for the a/c system to handle.
