i mean, whats up with this.

isn't it supposed to be a luxury car. today it was like 90 degrees out and i couldn't enjoy a bit of cool air in my q45. whats even more pathetic is it cant get colder past 65 degrees. i mean, what the fu*ck is that? 65 degrees?? come on. thats the lowest it can go?

someone please tell me all Qs aren't like this and that i'm doing something wrong. i mean. really. this is ridiculous

By 173k I'm sure your AC is tired from owner abuse [dirt on condenser/evap] and lack of maintenance. Nothing a few thousand won't fix.

But 65F is the lowest the automatic temp system regulates on recirculate [however you can falsely trim the display to mean 60F but display 65F ---study your FSM].

You will be punished for not studying the cars specifications before buying

Dennis is right, a component was (or likely many components were) neglected and eventually failed. Is it cooling at all or is the AC completely dead?

Is the compressor seized? I came to learn that there's so many components to the air conditioning, that it requires a professional diagnosis (get second and third opinions) and proper replacement.

Fortunately, unlike me, your Q takes R134 ($3 per can) as opposed to R12 ($60-80).

It would benefit you to flush and recharge the AC as well (have a professional do it). Those $40 AC checkups that various shops do are quite handy, and AC diagnosis and repair is not something that you necessarily have to do at the dealer.

alright, during the winter. the AC was perfect. i mean, it blew heat and worked like was it supposed to. it kept me warm. but in this heat weather we got now, its just not blowing air as cool as I want it.

Yeah, but you dont use AC in the winter... do you? :)

I think spending a little money (I'd say under $150) flushing your AC will be worth it, and replacing the receiver/drier. At least, that seems like a good starting point.

Start by measuring [graphing the temperasture drop] vs outside temp vs time at a constant 60 mph.

Trying to fix something with out knowing the depth of the problem is wasteful.

How do you apply that data to servicing the AC? Mine could stand to be a bit colder too.

one option that will keep you cooler and prolong the life of all interior surfaces is....................... to get your windows professionally tinted{ not dark dyed film, which absorbs heat and looks gangster} with a full metal film such as Formula One brand,I did this coming up on 2 years ago and love it! ac runs at lower fan speed, car is cooler after sitting closed up in the sun,and you dont feel the suns rays hitting you as hard when you are driving!glass does not look dark at all, just a deeper bronze factory look!

the tint cost 320 installed with a lifetime guarantee.they had 4 different quality levels of film within the Formula One line,I chose the top of the line-the cheaper option was dyed film, then a hybrid dyed & metal combonation film, then an all metal film with no dye,it had the best solar reduction specs, and wasnt dark,so I went for it! Huper Opkik is another excellent choice but I found many installers were not happy with its clarity level, even though the solar rejection numbers are awesome,it uses a ceramic sputtered layer instead of metal,so it is excellent if you have a gps or other electronics that have their antenna mounted inside of the cabin.the only downside I have noticed is the rear facing antenna on the Valentine One has a slightly shorter range due to the metal film, obviously the front{most important} range is unaffected.
