After replacing all of the components in my ac system except for the lines, I finally got the system to pull and hold a proper vacuum for over 12 hours. I needed to add more PAG oil, but didn't desire to open a line so I bought the PAG oil charges in the can (2 fl oz of oil, 1 oz of R134a). With the system holding a -29 vacuum I attempted to add the oil to the system through the manifold gauges. When I opened the low side valve the pressure shot up over a few minutes from vacuum to 120-130PSI, but the can of PAG and refrigerant never went into the system. The compressor never engaged. After working with it for an hour I closed the low side gauge and let it sit until the next morning. I checked the pressure and it held at the 120-130PSI over night. The city temperature went up to 86 degrees that day. When I went to work on it that afternoon the system was flat and now there is a leak. I assume the pressure caused something to rupture, and if so, what would be the likely part? A line or worse? Thanks.
