My 93 just got a KAde put in, My Air conditioner recently stopped working. It worked perfectly til the end of winter, which was a couple months after I did the swap but now it just pooped out it -- seems like right when the summer sun came. Compressor turns on and stays on when I turn the A.C on, so I know it has pressure and freon.. and the clutch seems to be working fine. No cold air. Turns off when turned off. r134 converted, full of freon. Could be my expansion valve? HELP! :wtf2:

Either a clog in the boiler valve or a bad filter-drier.

Otherwise, you can't tell if the thing is full of freon unless you actually check it with a gauge.

Get the system evacuated and have it checked/vacuum tested if you can't tell what it is on your own. Are you sure it's holding a vacuum?

All the freon might have leaked out through a seal or you might have a hole in your line.

Just because the compressor works doesn't mean it's holding vacuum.

The clutch is engaging so it must be full of freon? Im gonna go to a shop that has the right tools to store the freon and take a look I guess? I just dont wanna be screwed and it makes me feel emasculated to take my beautiful car to a shop where some mechanic other than myself can get his greasy hand on my paintjob. Ugh im worried.

Don't worry. A/C work is very "sensitive" and it sucks working on it. I highly recommend forking over the money and having someone take care of it.

I'm getting mine done right now at the local college (basically I do all the work) because my high school autos teacher is a professor there.

-The first time I got there, the compressor didn't fit. Dropped the old one only to see it was the wrong one. Had to put the old one back in.

-Second time it was the right compressor, got it all hooked up, but a line was torn. Had to put the old compressor back in.

-Third time an o-ring was the wrong size. I got it from the dealer and had to get a different sized one. Had to put the old compressor back in.

-Fourth time everything is hooked up with the new compressor and the system holds vacuum (yay!) but when we go to turn on the compressor, the compressor basically self destructs and sounds like the death of a transformer, lol. The old compressor went back in.

-The fifth time is tomorrow. If everything goes right, it should blow cold. I'm getting VERY tired of having to keep pulling my damn A/C compressor(s). It's a total pain in the a**.

First and foremost.... make sure your A/C fan is engaging. If the fan isn't engaging it will stay warm.

probably just a low charge. no charge= no compressor engaging. get it checked with guages.
just had to re-do mine(but i have the machine)
you say it was converted? i converted mine too. and a dozen others. paid rent like that for 2 months. 6 of the ones i did, including my own, developed a leak at the low side service port, the one you converted. had to redo them. might have a look there with a uv light.

x2 A/C is just one of those things were it'd be wise to get checked out by a professional.
