How do you go about converting your r-12 to r-134a? I have an 88 model 300zx.

well if the system has any gas in it, you'll have to have it evacuated first, I hear this is done for free or nearly as they keep you're expensive R12, I highly recomend replacing the reciever dyyer when converting, most likely it's origional and could use replacing and they are pretty cheap, then just screw on the adapter nipples from autozone and charge with r134a with oil charge and you're done, it's pretty simple, if you have the engine out or something it's not a bad idea to replace the o-rings with the newer nitrile while you can get tot hem

From what I hear, the mineral oil the R12 uses and the PAG oil that R134 uses do not mix well at all so you want to be sure to flush the system as well as possible to get as much mineral oil out as you can.

that was an issue with the early conversions, and one of the things that replacing the reciever/dryer avoids, not an issue on the more modern conversions

.... awesome! Going to go convert a few cars now, I've been holding off with fears of issues but if that's the case I'll just replace the part and go.
