AC CONTROL

I have been having an issue with my ac unit the lights go out and then i tap it and they come back on, the ac still blows when the lights go out most of the time, sometimes when i tap it to get it back it cuts off and i can't get the ac back on, i checked all the plugs and they all look good, i may just buy a used one. If anybody has any info about this or had the same problem let me know.
