if the AC compressor doesnt engage when you turn it on, what all could it be?

what are my options for testing to determine if its a bad compressor?

Low freon. Bad control unit. Broken wires. Loose plug(s). Bad relay. Lots of things.

And, the FSM has step by step troubleshooting steps.

Low refrigerant is the most common cause. Beyond that, knowing what car you have would help a lot.
