Hey everyone, I'm having issues with my blower motor. What's happening is that while its on high there is a screeching sound coming from underneath the glove box. Not sure what it is, I'm thinking the motor is going out for it.

Any thoughts on what I should do about it? The sound goes away when I lower down the fan speed or I turn it off and restart it.

Any help would be much appreciate it.

Thanks

You can remove the blower motor (remove the glove box - there's a pictorial guise in the "Replacing Your Cabin Air Filter" guide in the pinned how-to sticky, then remove the blower motor which is held in by three screws) and make sure there is no foreign material on the blower motor cage. Also change the cabin air filters while you have the glove box removed.

If the noise persists, the motor is likely failing. It may be possible to disassemble it to clean and lubricate it, I think I've seen a guide before. I'll try to find it later.

Thanks for the reply, I've changed the filter thinking there was crap stuck there but no luck. Do I have to take the glove out to access the motor? It's 3 screws on the bottom of the circular part?

I'm not sure if you need to remove the glove box, but it is a good idea because there'll be less things in the way. You may need to remove a small piece of side trim near the door (held in by a Phillips head screw and a black plastic thumbscrew) in order to access the rearmost blower motor screw.

The blower motor is indeed the circular item to the right of the filter location in this picture:
