Abusive Driving?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey all.
I'm new to the forum.
Can you guys help me to become a new EX owner?

I'm looking at a 2010 Platinum Ice EX with everything except Tech (here in Canada, Tech is intelligent cruise, brakes and lane departure warning).
I tend to be someone who "goes big or goes home" with gadgets... so I'm a bit upset the EX doesn't have Tech.
What do you guys think? Tech Useful? Not?

The EX I'm considering is a demo.
Luckily it only has 150km on it (better than the other demo with 9000km... which is essentially a used car).
My concern is it has been 150km of HARD test drives... but the discount is $5500 off the MSRP of $49,900.
(I'm assuming I'm not the only one who test drives HARD)
At the risk of sounding like Howie: "Deal..................................................or No Deal?"

Look forward to some good advice.
Cheers.

My 08 had 225 miles or 362K when I bought it. I wanted a 2WD and it was the only loaded one with a black interior they had. These days you would really have to be trying hard to hurt a new car on a test drive for it to impact the longevity . (engines are ran in at the factory, rev limiters, ABS, computer controlled transmissions) Also according to some the EX is mainly driven by women so you don't have anything to worry about.

If your a Techy... and you don't get the gizmo's... you'll regret it.

Hold-out and get the Car of your dreams... and maybe the Color you really want, too.

Coulda, shoulda, woulda doesn't cut it. Don't settle for less.

Some people will say you don't need AWD.

Some people will say you don't need the NAV.

Whatever... I need it all and I got it all.

Can you live without it ?

I don't use cruise control and I hear the lane departure warnings get pretty old, so the Tech package wasn't a big draw for me, even though I am a gadget lover. But I've got a co-worker who did want it, and he got an out of state dealer to ship a fully loaded model to him last week. Sticker was something like $45,100, his price was $37,250, and the dealer ate the additional delivery charge. So unless the factory cash is expired, or not available in Canada, you might be able to squeeze them a little harder.

I got a bigger discount than that off of MSRP on a brand new EX in Canada.

You might want to consider a new one WITH the Tech package and some hard bargaining.

I'm sure they'll help you out to get your business.

I am new here, and am waiting for my EX. It's to be delivered on Monday. And yes. I am a gadget geek. I have already downloaded the owners manual and the booklet on the NAV. I don't think mine has the tech system, and the one thing i think I am going to miss is the birds eye view with the 4 cameras. I believe this is part of the Tech package as well as the lane departure and the intelligent cruise.
Can't wait to get mine next week.

Good luck.

Thanks all.
I was definitely planning on haggling much harder if I pursued the demo.
The $5500 off probably includes the manufacturer incentive of $4500... so really there is no 'demo' deal.
I do indeed still find myself yearning for that Tech.
If there's none around (at other dealers, or autoport), I am fully prepared to go the US...
I hear there's $10 grand plus in savings to be had. (Gotta love that...)
Are you guys aware of any differences in specs down there?
(Alls I can see is they don't let their Premium + Nav + Tech upgrade to 18" tires).
Cheers

Regarding the Tech package:

For my 2008 EX, the Around View Monitor (AVM) was part of the Tech package, and the AVM is a gadget I definitely want.

However, for the current 2010 EX, AVM is in the Nav package, not Tech package. The infiniti.ca website shows that the Tech package has just Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP). (I think you knew all that already.) I don't use those three features very much, and I wouldn't care very much if my car didn't have them. So I think it isn't a big deal if you don't have the Tech package.

(LDW and ICC I think have a small safety benefit, mainly if you're distracted/tired while driving; and ICC can sometimes be slightly more convenient than turning cruise off and back on; but those features can also be annoying (extraneous beeping from LDW, and ICC slowing down when you don't want it to)).
