i have a 95 hardbody v6. first off, things that have been done:new fuel lines, new fuel filter, new plugs, new wires, new cap and button.

the problem: my truck has a hesitation to it under 3000rpm. it is most noticeable when the truck hits 3rd gear upon acceleration. when i watch the tach, it literally stops for a split second and continues on up. you can hear the engine "loose" it's gumtion while accelerating. all seems to be fine after 3000rpm. it doesn't seem to do it while at idle.

i cleaned the maf with maf sensor cleaner, that didn't help. i tried readjusting the tps to the .05 @ idle, that didn't seem to help. i put a timing light on it, it is now dead on 15 degrees, no help there either. maybe i need someone to explain to me how to do the ohm meter needle sweep thing. i checked the fuel pressure, all was good there. there doesn't seem to be any obvious vaccum leaks, and there is no egr valve on the truck, so i couldn't check that. where should i go from here? pull the plugs to see what they say? could this be a fuel pressure regulator issue? if so- do i pull the line off it while the truck is idling to see if fuel comes out? i'm so frustrated. it's to the point now that i almost want to get rid of it. i checked for codes in all modes, and as far as the truck is concerned, there is nothing wrong.

thanks

try a new tps, go to the junk yard and grab one for like 5 or 10 bucks the tps is just a variable resister, and some times they get bad spots at common throttle positions like highway cruise (which is about 3000 to 3100 rpm if same setup as mine). to test it, in neutral rev the engine and see if it reproduces the problem, but the part is cheap enough to just get another anyway

If it was the fuel pressure regulator the truck would be running rich in the low RPM rage and would have a slight hesitation. Can you smell fuel in the exhaust or have any way of telling if the truck is running rich? I know mine had a slight hesitation when the vaccum line to the FPR had a leak in it (which caused the fuel pressure to be above normal at low RPMs, thus dumping in more fuel than it should have).

Something to check. You might also try running some seafoam through the fuel to clean the injectors. You could even check the spray pattern on the injectors but i dout they are the problem.

Hope his helped.

John
