Has anyone ever wired up an ABS system? I have a SR20DET Redtop motor that I am swapping into my S14 which has ABS. Does anyone know how to wire up the ABS or has a write up on this?

Thanks,

I will try-- Our cars do have abs and if you have abs then you have a VLSD. However you can wire the abs up all day long there is nothing in the ecu on your jdm s13 s14 sr20 whatever ecu to control it. So things like cruise and abs as well as safelite glass does not come on silvia's sold in japan. That is USDM 240sx things along with that dam paperweight KA motor which never dies but hates to rev. So does this help?

I used the parts off my KA to make the cruise work however the ecu plays a part in controlling the abs and that sheat aint there dog.......

Shift_SRDETuser,I have totally separated the ABS wiring harness from the KA wiring and there are 5 wires that lead to the ECU. Three of the wires are thick gray shielded wires and two are regular wires. Must these wires be re wired? Or are they eliminated? The rest of the wires go in to the dash harness which in turn goes to the ABS control unit. Do you know which wires I need to run to the ECU?

Thanks,Dan

are you talking about a KA or SR --- the SR20DET put into Japan Silvia's do not have cruise control nor do they have ABS. If you can rig it up to run the wires to the abs actuator motor there is nothing in the jdm ecu you have to control them. I run z32 brakes like I assume most everyone does and the abs while wired correctly it does not engage and I sent my wiring off to Yuri at wiring specialists and had them done. Even if you wire them up they will not work because I believe the ecu controls this feature.

ECU has nothing to do with ABS or ASCD, those both have their own control units.

ABS and ASCD does however share the same speedo signal that comes out the gauge cluster, which is a required signal for both to work correctly. In addition to the wheel/diff sensors for ABS.

then take a KA fsm and trace the wires that should work. I like not having ABS anyway on my z32 brakes but if you want it then I guess it could be done. The SR harness will not have wires for it though and you will have to run them yourself.

Sounds like this is going to be very tricky to do. I had contracted Yuri from WiringSpecialist and he said that it was a little tricky but could be done. Do you think this guy Taylor Durdan could do this wiring? I believe I would like to send my harness out to be done if it's too involved but sounds like even the wiring specialist are doubtful. Maybe I should eliminate the ABS all together.

will they work with z32 brake calipers and the mc of an auto 240sx? I would like to trace the wires and see why my abs is not engaging? Just to know how to do it. I do not know if abs is something I want to run on my 340whp car but it might be neat to see how it handles differently.....

Tayler,I have been trying to get a hold of you. I need some help with the ABS wiring. There are five wires that run to the ECU from the KA harness. There of the five wires are gray shielded wires that have a few grounds in within the shielded wire. Are the grounds chassis grounds or switched grounds? I will try and call you on Monday. My buddy Jamie whom has been helping me with the wiring has also been trying to call you. He has done several wiring harness but non with ABS. He is the person working on my harness and I think it would be good to hook you two up so that you can guide him with the q's he has about the abs.

Thanks Dan

Seishuku is exactly right just take the plugs for the abs unit and separate them from the KA harness and wrap them into the SR/RB harness. It's that simple but its an extra pain to do cause it's nasty and wrapped up in a bunch of wires.

sorry dan, i am a SUPER busy person and typically cannotn answer my phone. contacting me via text message or email is best.

there should not be any shielded cables leaving your abs plug and going to the ecu. if there are for you, then you are doing it wrong.

like i told you before, there are just the 3 consult wires and tachometer. if this proves to be to difficult, let me know, and we can schedule for you to just ship the harness to me and i can repair it.
