Long story NOT short lol, a couple of days ago 15mins into my drive the ABS, VDC Off, and SLIP light all popped up at the same time. Luckily for me I have a "CEN-TECH" OBDII device laying around........and when i used it these codes popped up: "C1142" and "C1185". Since I wasn't familiar with these codes i did some research online and decided to get a second opinion from a local mechanic after Memorial day. The Next day when I turned the car on the ABS, VDC Off, and SLIP light did not pop up, I even drove for a hour or so and nothing happened. But when I hooked my Device back up the codes still popped up. So a couple days later (TODAY) after still not seeing anything I decided to go to the mechanic and get his opinion. When he looked the codes up he tells me it's either my brake fluid or I might have to replace my "Actuator"! He checked my fluids and they were fine :/. Let me also add the fact that I had my car serviced at Infiniti a couple weeks ago. They changed my Belt, Fluids, serviced my AWD, and they told me my brakes are fine along with everything else. What Should be my next move?? should I start saving for a $1200 actuator?? lol or just bring it to infiniti and see what they say??

So, if you search the threads, multiple people have had this happen to them:

I cut and pasted a post from Steve the Tech:
I would like take a few moments to address some of the most common things I see that will cause re-occurring illumination of the ABS, SLIP, VDC and/or AWD light(s).
-Low Brake Fluid
-Inproper setting of the steering angle sensor
-Communication issue between the throttle position sensor and the abs control unit
-Incorrect wheel speed sensor input signal to the abs control unit (this can either be from a wheel diameter that is not consistent or altered wheel speed sensor normality)

With the exception of the first none of these things are things you can fix yourself without access to the ABS and other control units to retrieve appropriate diagnosis information
so, you may want to top off your brake fluid and see if that solves the issue, but if it doesn't you prolly need to roll into your closest, trusted stealership and have them hook up a Consult II/III to see what the problem is.

My lihts came on when my oil level was low. Once I topped it off all the lights went away.

Good luck at the dealer

I am having a similar but slightly different issue. Any insight can help.

Vehicle: 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x (35k total miles) with lift and 295 tires. Have had lift and tires now about 30k no issues.

When I start the Xterra I have the "Diff lock" and "SLIP" lights. As soon as I turn my wheel (about 45-90 degrees) the "diff lock" light turns off. Then the ABS, VDC Off, SLIP lights turn on.

4hi and 4lo work fine however it does not seem my Diff will lock.

What I have done = change rear diff fluid (needed it anyways). Remove negative terminal of battery (noticed a little corrosion). Reseated and cleaned diff plugs. Abs plugs look well seated.

Help! I don't wanna spend a fortune right now.
