All those lights on my gauge cluster popped up probably 2 weeks after I installed my springs. Just a few days ago, I found the culprit.

In the front drivers side wheel well, I found the two (maybe three?) wires that were cut completely from wherever they originally plugged into.

For people who know what I'm talking about, is that whole section of wiring something I could buy from a dealership? If not, what would be the best way to fix the issue.

Thanks.

I imagine an entire clustered harness like that is not going to be cheap from the dealership. Id look through Courtesy Parts for diagrams and try to pinpoint the particular harness to see if it even sold separately.

You cant mend the wires? Splice and solder?

Good luck man. That sounds like a mess. I was hoping by the thread title it was the typical low brake fluid issue.

ouch yeah that doesnt sound fun. Maybe depending on your location you can find some one else with a coupe and you can figure out the wiring to do some soldering like beasy said. Good luck though

So I figured out where the 2 wire harness harness connects to, it goes up a little into the wheel well (under the plastic) into a plug, then that plug goes into the main engine harness. One question, though...

The part of the harness that connects to the brakes has two colored wires, one black and one white with a black stripe. Those two go into the plug, and the other side of the plug comes out with two wires as well - but one green and one red. Before I cut the plug out of the whole situation and solder the black to the red and white to the green, I want to make sure there is nothing going on inside the plug that gave Nissan techs the reason to change the wire colors. But, if not, then the red wire INTO the plug turns into black when it leaves the plug, and the green wire turns into the white with a black stripe on the way out of the plug.

Just to add.. I'm thinking Nissan put the plug there just for the purpose of, like in my situation, the wiring got snagged on something, it would simply rip out of the plug instead of ripping through and f*** up the whole engine harness. It makes sense to me, but I'm just your average joe trying to get these damn lights off my gauge cluster lol :bigthumb:

I would think the colored wires from the main harness are just that, colored from the main harness to keep them straight and labeled. Once it gets down to the plug, they can switch to just black and black/white stripe for pos/neg or whatever in/out purpose they are serving. The only other thing I would be worried about is where the sensors are that are tripping the lights on the dash.

Id try to get a hold of a wiring diagram, or even at least check a courtesyparts diagram to see exactly what it is you are dealing with before you start cutting. Definitely research the piss out of this. Maybe even post up in Gen Chat to see if some of the real gearheads there can help you out.

Hmm.. okay then. Well I tried stripping the wire so I can put it back into the plug, but there's really no way to put it back in as there's some type of rubber-ish insulation inside the plug that probably keeps out moisture or something.

I think this weekend I'm just gonna cut the plug, and wire the white/green together and black/red together directly. Although it won't be OEM spec, I'm sure it will do the job just as well. Hopefully, at least :ohno:
