I have a 97 J30 with 140k miles on it. Runs good just rusting pretty bad. I have an issue with the brakes. When you are stopping the last few seconds the brakes pulse like you are driving in snow and then it finishes stopping. I believe the abs is coming on for some reason. What would cause this?

My 97 would have a pulse sometimes when braking off an exit ramp at 45mph, then brake nice and smooth all the way down to a stop. I thought it might be a warped rotor, but turned out it just needed an alignment and wheel balance (not sure which one cured the problem).

How good are the reads on your tire. when they waer down to replacement levels, ABS on most cars becomes touchy.

If its not tire tread related, it could be your ABS module. They go with age.

Can you hear your ABS pump priming when the car is off?

(1.)Turn your engine off and open your hood.(2.)Along the passenger side is a black plastic box. Take the lid off the box(do it gently or you'll break the locking tabs).(3.)You will see a big black square module once you've opened the box. Pull the module straight up. It will come out.(4.) Go to a Nissan dealer and purchase a replacement module. Plug it in.(5.) put the lid back in place and start the car.
