abs light

I have a 1995 j30 when i was dring today the abs light came on, when i stoped and turned off the car i heard a humming sound after looking under the hood it seems to be coming from a black box on the passenger side up towards the winshield,,how is this thing still running withe the car off? any idea what it is? right now i dissconected the battery in hopes i didnt damage anything

Stuck relay,replace abs relay,and you are all good

thanks alot...one more thing are the relays in that black box....can a novice do this.....thanks for your help

Yes, they're under the black box - and yes, you can do it. Just unplug one and plug the new one in.

ok i got the relays out anyone know where i can purchase some?

If it's one of the relays in the pic it is a Nissan part called a "standardized relay" and is available only through your local Nissan or Infiniti stealership for about $20 apiece. Bring the P/N or the relay with you when you go to buy it. If you're adventurous you can pull one at any Nissan/Infiniti salvage yard.

If it's one of the other fuses in the other two rows they are all available at any auto parts store for a couple bucks apiece.

If you want to buy a used standardized relay and can wait for USPS to deliver it, I've got a bunch of them. Send me an email, I can get one to you for a few bucks.

At least on the 90, I think it's more of a standard automotive relay - so you should be able to get one at any local parts place. I would still consider getting an OEM relay from Joe at http://www.infinitipartsusa.com but I don't know how much you need to drive the car right away.

thanks for all your help ill have to go to a dealer today if my wife aint got her car she aint happy and if she isnt happy im not happy.....
