I have a 1995 J30 with 71k in live in NY. Last night the ABS light turned on and has not turned off since then. I turn of the engine and the ABS pressure pump is still naking noise. I checked all the fuses that is connected to the anti skid. I pull a 30amp fuse from the engine compartment that is located near the source of the problem. The noise stopped. I need to get this resolved asap b/c as the NY weather is getting cold and just yesterday it started to snow i would like to get the ABS functioning properly. Another note will the pump was activate and the car was running it had regular pressure for braking ...no pulsating sensation on the pedal. Since i pulled the fuse to make the pump stop making noise wil the car was off..the light on the dashboard stays on indicating ABS. The pressure remains the same. What is your suggestion..what should i do?:help

My 96 J did the same thing. It is the ABS pump relay that's bad. If you tap it, it will turn off. I don't know that part # but it should be easy to replace.

I did a search from an old group, here's a quote from Carlos whose on this board somewhere. He also has a website devoted to his J30, once I find it I'll post it."It takes about one minute to fix. You can't let the ABSpump run like that because it will burn up the pump or drain yourbattery. The ABS pump is expen$ive! Just replace the relays.

There are two relays in the engine compartment - by the firewall -passenger side. There's a black plastic box with the two relays inside -the box is next to the ABS pump . The relays are square, plastic, one ofthem has a cross on top. I replaced both of the relays because I didn'tknow which one was the bad one. The cost was about $40 for both relays(from the dealer of course)" It seems to be a diy but I had mine done at the dealer for about $150.00Carlos if you read this, don't be upset I quoted you....JJR

No problem. Pass on the knowledge! That's what we're all here for right?

Besides, I just quoted you! :-)
