Just bought my first 04 G35 Sedan with 37K miles. I am hearing an unfamiliar (at least to me) noise when:

1) Start the car2) Place in drive and car reaches approx. 5 - 10 mph3) Hear a short (less than a second) "racheting" sound coming from drivers front wheel area.4) Sounds more pronounced when brakes are applied.5) Only happens once after initial startup until the car is shut off and then it will do it again.

Thank you in advance, Curt

Thank you. I would have never guessed it to be normal. I test drove a 09 FX35 and didn't hear the same noise so I just figured something might be wrong.

Not sure about the Fx but I know even the second generation G I never heard. But everybody says here on the forum with first gen you can hear it.

So no issue with yours.

Yup, sounds normal. If you get a dummy light or your VDC/slip lights stay on, then there is a problem.
