I have a 95 Q45 with 80k. It has had a problem for about 10k mi now. I have had it to the dealer three times now unable to fix it. Every time I come to a stop under LIGHT braking, anywhere between 15 mph and under the ABS self check clunk will occur. This is the same ABS clunk that you feel when you 1st start your car and put it in to gear and go. That I have been told is a system check and is normal, but not normal to come on nearly every time I come to a stop under light braking. It does not occur under moderate to hard braking ever. The dealership just recently replaced the tps blaming it for all the lights (abs, tcs,a nd slip) coming on at the same time. This still happens randomly on occasion as well. I'm frustrated and the dealer as well as many other mechanics I've asked cant help me.

Any ideas?Thanks,Matt

I'd be changing dealers for starters... I'm sure there'll be a more sage opinion here shortly.

Has the ABS relay been replaced? They tend to cause problems from time to time - the usual failure mode is running the ABS actuator after the car is off, but who knows. It's also possible that one of the inputs to the system (wheel sensor), or it's control computer is defective. I'd suspect a good tech. with Consult is needed to diagnose the problem. I'd try the relay first (I think they're about $20), then spend the time and money to find the good tech. if that doesn't work...

Have you read out the TCS error code? The code must be read out after the error, once the lights turn on (abs,tcs..) the error code is locked in. Mine read out the front right wheel sensor. Sure enough, if I fiddle around with this sensor, the problem will correct for a few days, but then goes bad again.

apparently i had a abs relay go out once as well. at least it will most likely be a fairly cheap repair whatever it is.

The relays in the actuator assy. sometimes cause problems. Also check each wheel sensor harness with an ohmmeter while flexing the cable, you could have an intermittent open as the suspension changes on braking.
