All,

Car: 2006 M45 Sport, Build date: 01/2005

I've been having an ABS/RAS error with my car. Happens after 15 minutes or so.

I took it to the dealer and they say the error code is for the ABS actuator, they quoted me a cool $2675.95 (Canadian) for the part. Part number: 47660 EH64A or 47660-EH114

I've found the a used part for a "2006 M45" but they either have a different part number (47660-EH60D) or no part number. Once place told me the part changed mid 2006 model run.

So to summarized,

Does anyone know any all of the 2006 parts are interchangeable? Will a 2007 one work? Will a 47660-EH60D work for a 47660 EH64A? Any help on this would be great. Also is there anything else I should check first? I know this is super technical, I'm just looking for a "should work" type answer, they said I could return the parts if they didn't fit. I just wanted a double check before I ate the shipping costs.

Thanks.

Colin.

Follow up comment. When the dealer clears all the ABS faults, the problem seems to go away for 2-3 weeks, regardless of distance driven etc. Is it possible once it see a intermittent fault and has an error code, it then start checking more closely?

Anyways any help on possible parts that might work would be great.

Thanks.

I would want more info on what is actually failing before I drop that coin on an intermittently failing part. Even if it always throws a code, I'd want to know why it takes so long to appear and under what conditions...

If nothing else, then to help out the M family here.

Some more follow up information.

Drove across town Friday night, had error. Saturday & Sunday, Drove 1000 Km, (~600 miles) on freeway car did not error out once. This makes me think it's heat in the brake system related, in town always on the brakes, takes 15 minutes to happen (time for brake system to get warm in city) But on the highway, no failures as the car is running with lots of air and not much heat in the brakes. Also I tested the brakes with the failure indicated on the dash Friday and the ABS still seems to work fine, I have pulsing on at least some of the wheels ( didn't get out and check if 1 wheel was dragging). It just prevents the stability, cruse and rear steering from working. I also checked brake fluid levels, the are all fine and the fluid is pretty clean looking.

Based on me thinking it's heat related, on Friday I checked the ABS/brake units to see if they were hot after the error came on, but they are all cold to the touch at least on the outside.

At this point, If I could get confirmation part numbers, I'd just order a used unit. Error hasn't driven me crazy to the point of a 3000 buck repair (yet).

Can you uninstall them, clean & replace? Maybe there's a mounting issue with an individual unit that appears with heat build up?

Is there a picture of the part you can share?

Perhaps Notice anything odd or unusual about one of them?

I went to the other infiniti dealer, they now say it's the Rear steering motor. Which costs 6700 dollars in canada. I bought a used one from the states. Everything was good for two weeks, then the used motor crapped out. It's reading 1000 ohms resistance now. So I have the damn lights again...

Anyone know how to disable the RAS system so I can have cruse back...

It's been about a month i bought a 06 JDM Fuga GT. Same as the M35 sport apart from being Rhd/lhd and the whole language issue!! That's another thing but that aside i think this is a common error in all 06 M models. And as i have read previous posts someone commented that they drove 600 miles on the highway with out RAS popping up. I drove pretty gingerly for 2 weeks but after a little spirited driving around the city i saw the handbrake sign pop up, then the lock and then the RAS. A stop start fixes the issue which makes me think the whole thing has a wiring technicality maybe. If i drive smooth it doesnt show but a few hard brakes and it pops up. And where i live. Bangladesh we dont have roads. it seems more like years of lava just cooled down and thats it. I dont need cruise control lol but i realise that with you guys whenever RAS pops up cruise stops working?! I dont think it's worth the whole 5000K + motor change though. But anyways ill take it for a diagnostic/service this week. Apart from the abs ras and slip what bothers me the most is the handbrake light. GOD

Damn seems like you are having a run of expensive bad luck with one of the oldest Y50 Ms out there...

At the point you are at I would highly suspect an electrical issue. Something like a dirty ground, or increased resistance through a damaged or loose negative cable would cause repeated, similar, and intermittent issues.
That being said having one of the first Ms means you have the first run of all control units, couple that with the effects of the weather in Canada and anything is really possible.

Did you by chance have U1000 codes in any of the other systems in the car?
