Ok my setup1996 240sx SE

s13 redtop sr20det z32 maf (n62) 740cc injectors hks ssqv bov walbro 255lph fuel pump Enthalpy tuned ecu for a t3/t4 turbo and other items in setup fmic Koyo radiator nismo fpr

I've been reading up on what the stock blocks can handle and everyone has their own opinion 350 to 500hp(crank)

with my current setup i would like your opinions on what turbo to purchase im looking to get about 350hp to the wheels, possible 400 if you guys think the block can handle it.

what turbo? I'm about to purchase the gt2871r .86a/r and I've been reading that there are a few trim's for this turbo , so which should i get ?

I was a ka-t guy and i sold that project and im trying out the sr.i know a bit of info but not as much as some of you veterans

Thanks for the help in advance

I dont really know the answer to your question, but out of curiousity, how much power are you making now? and what is the power you want going to be used for? daily? drift?....keep in mind once you start making more and more, you should start considering head gaskets etc.. and transmissions arent invincible..

motor isn't installed,it'sgot everything installed thats in my setup for the motor.I work at a dealership and have my own bay with a lift and everytool i could need.So if there are other things you guys would recommend getting done beforei install let me know.I did the basics already like water pump and thermoCar is going to be used as a daily driver.I might go ahead and get the head gasket installed so i dont have to do it later.im not going to be launching the car at all reallyi just want a powerful DD.What do you think of this deal?http://shop.hybridynamics.com/...ID=76

You might want to rethink that turbo if its going to be a daily driver. People are having lots of problems with them blowing seals and garret won't rebuild them. I think if You want something reliable steeping up to a T3 would be a good idea, thats just my opinion. Do a search on FA. Other than that maybe some rocker arms stoppers and a multi layer metal headgasket should be added for safe measure. I was a KA-T guy too but I'm building a KA-T for my S13 very soon.

if lag is not an issue go with a gt30r that should be good for 400+ easy and yes get a metal HG and a set of ARP head studs

I can tell you that would be one of the worst choices for 350+

so you think that a t3/t3 ot just a t3, and a new manifold.Would that be a better choice price wise

all a gt2871r is really is a t04e/t28. it will flow about the same as a t3/t04e (t28 .86 = t3 .63; t28 .64 = t3 .48, roughly on the turbines). the advantages of the 2871r is that it is ball bearing for better spool response and has gt wheels that are more effient.

^No it's not. GT series and not T series...some housings have been transferred but Garrett has other GT housings available if you buy from the right places.

definitely holler at a new headgasket if you dont plan on doing anything else with the block itself.

i plan on eventually getting a gt30r turbo with some 740cc and upgraded HG

which 30r u talkin about, cause the 3071r(t3) spools incredibly fast, like 35-3800 full boost is achieved, as for the 3076r its not too laggy IMO, a few guys on FA are hitting full boost by 38-4000k range, and for a turbo that is good for 500whp id say that isnt bad at all.

and damn i wish people would quit sayin just gt30r(not just sayin u ^^ everyones been sayin it lately) especially since there are a couple different ones(gt3071r,gt307r,or hks 3037) all of which have quite a few differences

but as for me i went with the 3076r, should have the engine back in by next week and hopefully have it dynoed before the end of march

GT30R is the GT3076R. Hybridynamics sells both the GT3071R and GT3076R and list the 3076 as the GT30R. Maybe there wrong but i havnt known them to be wrong about any turbo info yet.

the Gt30r or Gt3076r, both the same, is the standard garrett off the shelf turbo that all of the other turbos in the GT30 family have been based off of.

the gt3071 shares the same exhaust wheel as the GT3076, but has the same compressor wheel as the 2871r 56 trim.
