I wanted to put in a set of tomei cams. i think the stock valve train is good for 8k. i read that somewhere on here. i wanted to get the 270 degree cams with the 10.25 lift. what do i need to do to put these in?

well that depend son your motor, i heard rb20 u can drop in some serius cams but on a 25 u got a few more limitations, suck as i dont think u can run more than 8.8 mm of lift without modifying head, and 256 i think is highest duration you can run with out dropping NVCS, also you can only adjust the exhaust cam with a adjustable cam gear..... i picked up the tomei poncam valve springs and i will eventually be getting the tomei pon cams since i dont wanna **** with the head, and i want to keep nvcs

9mm is the max ammount of lift that you can run on stock head...anymore requires solid lifters, springs, and a machined head.

The cams you are probably looking at are the pro cams. You want to be looking at the pon cams or some HKS or Apexera. You cannot have a higher lift cam than about 9mm ( I would stick with 8.8mm because it's dammmn close). If you want to run higher profiles, you have to do what Carl says because he's the man. As far as machining the head goes, you have to take a carbide cutter to the area around the lifters to cut those down to allow a higher cam to pass through. Otherwise, it will hit the head casting and you will get about 0.1 rotations out of the motor.
