Hi everyone-

I am new to the forum, belong to quite a few other forums. I am about to purchase an 05 QX56 and wanted to know if there were general issues I should look out for. The gentleman who is selling it bought it new in 06 and had all the service work done at an Infiniti dealership. The vehicle is in good condition considering how old it is. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Bill

Welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the QX56 Forum!

Some of the early build 2004 models had a lot of squeaks and rattles. There was also an issue with the breaks being undersized which would have been rectified somewhere on the 2005 models. The only thing I would listen for are the rattles, and make sure the brakes are nice and smooth when braking............especially after coming off of a highway ramp. Other then that, it is a sweet ride, I previously owned a late build 2004. I had a rattle in the door that was easily fixed, and I also had the brake issue which was eventually taken care of under warranty.

I have the 2005 and I have to say it's great. I agree with what Timmbo said and I'm experiencing some kind of metal sound when accelerating now, but not everyone will have that. and the rattles as he said have been rectified to some extent. I haven't experienced the braking issues, but there was a recall on the gas tank I experienced first hand! It will say it is a quarter full when it is not. Just make sure you check that out, it's not a constant occurrence and now I check my gas tank through the navi computer instead of needle just in case.

Other than that electrical issues I've experienced in any high-ish end cars, but it's expected IMO.

If you get it, you will definitely love it.
