The M35 is one of the best cars on the road today. But just like any used car, how much you get out of it depends on whether it was abused by the previous owner or not. Given the choice, I'd rather have the regular or AWD version but it's for my daughter and she likes the Sports. The Sports'19-inch wheels are awesome but can easily get scratched and expensive to repair. The ride is also stiffer as with most low-profile tires.
Check the car for sign of abuse. If you are not familiar with cars, you can have a pre-buy inspection done by dealership/shop/AAA for @ $150. Pay attention to the transmission fluid - should normally be pinkish-red in color. If it's very dark and smell burnt fluid, stay away from it.
The most common issue with M35s/45s are tramlining (car tends to follow the groove on the road) and warped rotors. Tramlining is common with the original Goodyear tires but is corrected/minimized by switching ti Michelin, Falken, Continental, etc. You can check for warped rotors. During the test drive and WHEN IT IS SAFE, apply brakes with speed >40 MPH. If you feel vibration, the car probably has warped rotors. The rotors may have to be turned or replaced together with new set of brake pads.
