hey guys

I'm gonna rent a spring compressor and pull the valves out to replace the seals and do some homebrew porting in the area.

Now my friends are telling me i should have this job done by a shop because the valve seats and surfaces need to be redone to ensure proper sealing

What is you guys' take on this with the ka24de head?

thanksMarko

It takes a special compressor for cam on bucket, so before you rent it be 100% that it is right. An old friend of mine made an adapter out of a socket that worked for him, you just have to cut two faces out of it, so you can pull the retainers. The cheapest part of that job is getting the seats. I just put my whole head in the shop. 250 for seals, 100 for 3 angle, 100 for port match. Just keep in mind, this is going to be fun. Be sure to reshim the head when you are done, and DO NOT do it on a table. When you go to rollover the cam to check clearance, you will break a cam. Don't ask me how I know (but I am sure you can figure it out).

It's not the right tool, but the thing that looks like a compass will likely be able to do what you need. If that is in fact what it is for.

yeah, that wont do. none of the local places here carry the right spring compressor so i think ill have the shop do the valve seals.. 50$ labor for seals and more if the seats need to be redone

That is actually a really good price as I have mentioned. I think you would be fine. And if you are building this thing up for any reason, do the seats. It will help compression, and keep you from burning the edges of your valve (in worst case).

That is a very good price. Have a professional do it.
