I paid $3900 for my 93 with 92k miles. It is in excellent condition though.

Is the auto worth it? I really can't find any others that are standard in my area that are in good condition

Um. Auto vs Stick is up to you. It's a hard decision. I think, if you enjoy driving, you'll eventually want the stick because the freedom/control it gives you to do what you want with the car. Secondly, check kelleybluebook.com. THey will have a used car price for the 240 that is adjusted for your area. Then you can go from there. Personally, 3k for a 240 with 185k miles is too much. In los angeles, I bought an 89 fastback with 170k for $1500. It wasn't in excellent shape, but it's decent. Autotrader is a good place to look. Recycler is another good place (I think it's only california). It's good you came here to get advice first. You possibly saved yourself from a bad deal. Look around some more, there are a lot of 240's out there. PEACE. Tek.

Yes, I have checked Autotrader. That is where I found a couple of 240's but they are automatics. I live in Connecticut. I have checked a lot of places on the internet for my area and have just been looking and really I cannot find any that are standards with milage lower than 100K in decent condition....What's a guy to do?

I would have to agree with Bunta, the worst thing you can do is get in a hurry to buy a car. Chances are you will miss defects and buy a lemon. Others will come up for sale with lower miles and a better price.

I have been looking for about 5 years now...no kidding. I've been hovering around this site for so long, in envy of all you guys:) but I have some funds now and I have found some a couple of good ones on auto trader, but they are automatics... and i think that having a good reliable car thats an auto is better than a standard with a lot of headaches... thanks for all the help guys. Guess I can just convert when I do the infamous and lovable sr swap when I get the money for that! one thing at a time through, right guys? thanks again!

Yeah, my friend just bought (yesterday) an eg6 civic. I know honda blah blah, say what you will. No need to flame. I'm just saying that he was in the exact same boat. Stick with no Air Condition and a few dents, OR an auto with nearly flawless exterior. I told him this: Problems with the stick are cheaper than with the auto, true. BUT the manual transmission will, certainly, have problems. I.e. Master/slave cylinders or clutch. Problems with the auto on the other hand are few and far between. Regular $300 cylinder or clutch repair is expected with the manual, the auto rarely goes out. So, if you need something that will be consistently reliable, the auto is the safer way to go. He got the auto. Not necessarily because of my advice or anything, but my point is still accurate in this case. If you can, widen your search to the surrounding states. I know Connecticut isn't THAT big. You may have more luck with a larger search area, if you want to wait any longer that is. All in all, I think your decision is wise. PEACE. Tek.

I looked around for a while, and stumbled on a guy selling my car for $3000 and gave him 2600 cash and its the convertable with 110K miles on it, but it needed a new gas tank, and that set me back almost $400
