About to buy a G20

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

I'll be looking seriously at a 1995 G20 today. I have been lurking on the boards hear at nicoclub.com, and I have one question on reliability of these G20's. It appears that the A/C compressor is a big issue with these and the Sentras. Is there a particular reason for this? Is there a way to avoid having to replace the A/C compressor every couple of years? That is one project I can't easily do myself since the A/C system has to be evacuated and it is making me nervous in an otherwise exciting purchase.

Thanks for any advice!

It will serve you well to search around a bit ... here's a fine example of what you can find.zerothread?id=178051

Thanks for the welcome

Great link, thank you much!

One thing that it didn't mention was the A/C compressor. It is one point in particular I am concerned about as it seems to be a common problem for whatever reason in the G20's and Sentra's.

Not that I'm aware of. The AC compressor (and drier) shouldn't be an issue (on any car) if they've been maintained.

I would recommend you spend $75-100 and have an Infiniti mechanic/technician go over the car looking for everything he can find wrong with the car. It can prove to be one of the best investments and negotiating tools.

Yeah, have a mech go over it. The A/C compressor tends to go on a lot of older cars just cause of age, but if it's been maintained you should be fine. Just keep in mind that this is a 12 yr old car, so things are going to break every now and again. As long as you're aware and a little proactive, it'll last a good long time.

Thanks for all the great information! If I decide it's worth buying there is an Infiniti dealer (according to the Infiniti web site) five miles from where the car is located. I would definitely be up for fronting $75 if it will give me peace of mind.

Thanks again!
