About to Buy a 240sx.

I'm about to buy a 1991 240sx. It has 180,000 miles on it (not sure if it's the original motor or not). They are asking $2,500. Anything I should look out for? I used to have a black 91 that had 160k miles and still ran great, and from what i remember it was a very reliable car and hardly had any problems. Would this be a good buy? or should I pay less?

The body looks Great and is a 5spd. Red with Grey interior.

Any input would be greatly apreciated. Thanks

If it has $180,000 miles on it you could probably convince them to sell for closer to $2k. Blue book value for a '91 240sx with 130,000 imles is ~2500, so with 180k, you could probably go a little lower. Overall not a horrible price though.

Yeah, i'm going to call and go look at it, i'm going to offer lower of coarse, but just wanted to see if there were any tail to tail signs i should look for that usually go wrong.

With that kind of mileage, the engine will for sure run into minor problems with its emission devices. Worry about gaskets. Many lower mileage 240sx leaks, but no other big problems. Though, the engine itself will run great for a long time if you keep repairing those minor problems a long the way.

i just got my 91 240 same thing red grey interior 5 speed with 81,000 miles only payed $1,700. i would defintely try to talk him down.

no i didnt mean 181,000 i meant 81,000. i know its a really good deal i seen it parked at this guys house like a month or so ago and wanted to just go ask him to buy it just cause it was so nice and i wanted it so bad, then the day i get rid of my other car im driving past and see a for sale sign on it, when i saw that i knew it was meant to be. so i called him he told me he was asking 2500 but negotiable cause he just bought a house and a new car cause he got married so i told him id have 2000 by the weekend he said arite. then i went to buy it and a branch fell on the sunroof and cracked it 2 nights before i bought it so he took off 300. but it dont even leak and still opens and closes but im gonna fix it real soon anyways. runs perfect cd player bodys in good condition one dent in the front but no chiping or anything really nice condition.

Well nevermind about that red one i found. I found a better one today. It's a 91' Red SE 5spd, with only 108k miles. I think i'll prolly pick it up.
