ok so the headlights are off, Im ready to have a go at turning them into clear corners. Im going to pop them in the oven to separate the housing. What temp?? How long?? im frightened (those things are damn expensive to replace)! Has anyone done this to their pathy/Q???

ive never done it nor am i brave enough to put even my corners in (their different than yours)

what ive learned as a tech geek and constant fiddler....when you rush and want something done the same day, it always ends in disaster. do your research. I wouldnt even dream of using your headlights, get a junk yard one to practise on first....your lights aint cheap...

the other guy (Wide Open Throttle) turned his into clear corners WITHOUT the oven method. I have opened headlights and resealed them before, not with an oven, but with a heat gun and a bottle of bathtub silicon. It was ugly when you pop the hood but looked great with everything closed up.

Not that I recommend this, but most people (in other car forums) who want to do a "joey mod", hint hint, will put the oven on as low as possible 200-225*F. Let the oven get to temp.

Place the part in a pan or easily removeable grateLeave in for no more than 3 minutes (usually)Remove and place on heat resistant surface (CAREFUL - stuff is hot!!! )Let cool for a minute or two - Don't touch face of lens!!!begin separating lens and housing with flat blade screw driver- some use parts of popcicle sticks as wedges to keep the seem apart- separate cautioslyDo your thingGet some all weather/ all temp silicone sealant (black) or you can heat of the original silicone and put stuff back together, either way, it could get m-e-s-s-y.

Practice could make perfect. Even using a damage light is better than messing up a perfectly good one.

You have been warned.

I did the oven bake method...if my memory serves me correctly let the oven preheat at the lowest setting (mine was 275 I believe). Make sure you remove your ballast, all screws, etc. I left them in there for about 15 minutes, you will need a flat head screwdriver or strong knife to pry the lensing apart from the housing. make sure you remember to reheat the housing before putting them back together so the original adhesive softens up and to have some silicone adhesive to seal it back up. Hope this helps!

thanks for the advice guys... but I already did it haha. I was having seriously bad feelings about popping them in the oven, so I just took out the heat gun and gave it a shot. It took about two hours start to finish to do one light, and wasn't bad at all. Ill post pics soon.

Yeah to hell if i was sticking my headlights on an oven lol, I dont trust it at all, plus I didnt want to make a mess of a nice looking headlight. My way also took 10 minutes, with no scares of leaking.

I was also a big vagina and worried I might melt something like the wiring and such, I just cant get it through my head that my thousand dollar headlight would be bakin in an over lol
