well i know that im a "noob" and might not get respect off the get go or anything like that, but im just wondering, i see a bunch of right hand drive skylines from you guys and i wanna know if you guys just use them for show or if you actually get out a drive them or something. im currently in the process of saving for a skyline but idk if i should or not so some input on that topic would help me too. thnx.

It's not a direct parallel, but my '71 Mini was RHD and I had no problems. I got pulled over a few times and asked, "What the heck is this thing?" Never once questioned the RHD aspect.

RHD only takes about an afternoon to get comfortable with. The only time I really noticed it was when I was kinda tired. Then my brain would make me want to wander into the center of the road 'cause with LHD you're used to seeing the centerline right out the window! Doh!

...but it sucks for going through drive-throughs!

I don't know where you're located, but a quick call to your local police / sheriff's department should clear that one up. Alternately, you could probably find the information by searching online through your state DMV. I would think that as long as it came from the factory with RHD you wouldn't have issues.

That's actually a really good idea - remember, cops can be car guys too. Having a few allies on your side may prove beneficial at some time!

that indeed is true. I used to work at a 24hr restaurant and worked the midnight shift and they'd come in at around 5am. technicaly they aren't allowed cuz they're still on duty, we know that and we don't give them shlt. in turn for not rattin them out, I talk to them every once and a while and whenever I'd get pulled over they know who I am and just tell me be easy and drive carefully.

The issue is not RHD; the issue is the mess made by Motorex in legalizing Skylines. With all of the shananigans, the DOT issued a statement in April which basically said: The R32s "federalized" by Motorex, although somewhat shady, were to be honored. In truth, the DOT said it wasn't worth finding the 100 or so registered R32s. That is why in CAL where I live there are registered DOT/EPA/CARB R32s which can be on the street without impunity. I have one in my garage and never have problem with the police/CHP because they are very aware of the DOT's position on this matter. I was extremely lucky to have found my R32, but I have many contacts inside Nissan NA who made me aware of an R32, which was bought back by RBmotoring, a legal spin off of Motorex, who was instrumental in persuading the DOT in their decision. Their seems to be much confusion about this but that is the simpliest way to explain the current reality of the situation. Who knows what the DOT will do in the future for "legalizing" Skylines with reputable Grey Car Importers[ there are 2 such companies working with the DOT on this issue] but for now: NO MORE SKYLINES CAN BE LEGALIZED!If you want one,you must find one of these 100 or so and buy them under transfer of title and EPA requirements for your state. If you are interested in finding one of these, contact RBmotoring.com; they know where almost all of these legal Skyline are located and occasionally buy them back for resale. You can all debate the issue, but believe me, I know the whole story from the very beginning 5 years ago, and these are the present facts.
